#3Dprinting is getting faster! Clavis is increasingly using 3D printing in our own projects — specifically to design bespoke sensor heads for measuring belts.
We normally work from sample units or pre-production parts and computer aided design (CAD) files, and each new sensor design is added to our catalogue — we’re now up to 70 and counting!

Whatever your application — automotive steering systems, agricultural equipment, HVAC systems, 3D printers or any other — the same industrial belt problems can arise from improper tension.
Your choice of belt meter must suit your needs. But how do you choose the right one? Read our managing director Andrew Punton’s latest blog to find out, here: Article: What’s the best belt meter for me?

It isn’t just the big #automotive manufacturers that are committed to #CleanTransportation.
Our customer Thermo King has pledged to invest $100m to deliver a fully electric product in every segment of the cold chain by 2023.
Great to see! 😊 👍 #sustainability

What is proper #BeltTension? Well, it’s all about striking a balance.
If an industrial belt is too slack, this can result in slippage, excess heat and premature wear. If it’s too tight, this can lead to excessive stress on belts, bearings and shafts.
How do you find that ‘sweet spot’ between the two? Learn more in this video:

Do you work with #agricultureequipment? Read my latest blog, where I explain how Clavis’s belt tension systems can put you ahead of your peers in “Agriculture 4.0”.
Mechanisation now represents 25 per cent of overall operating costs on today’s farms. This puts greater responsibility on #OEMs to deliver machinery that lasts.
Worn belts stand in the way. Indeed, it’s one of the biggest reasons why combines break down! But an obstacle to this is belt wear caused by improper belt tension.

Nice piece in The Robot Report, here, on autonomous tractors.
#Industry40 and automation are becoming essential to #Agricultureequipment. But, the equipment is expensive, making breakdowns an expensive proposition.

Even though proper belt tension is so important to original equipment manufacturers’ (OEMs’) bottom lines, many don’t do it correctly.
Many use force gauges to manually measure the force of a belt — but these tools are inaccurate. OEMs can do better. How? Read more in this blog by our managing director, Andrew Punton: Article: Belt Up!

Sneeze, snap a photo or take a bite of pizza… there are lots of things you can do in under a second.
And, now, another is fully traceable and error-proof fixing and removal of #automotive clamps — connectors that hold together the vital systems in vehicles, link fluid hoses.
Clavis’s Gusto tool takes just 0.3 seconds to determine whether or not a POPP clamp is successfully closed. See more in this video: YouTube: Why use the Gusto Tool?

Did you know there are two different type of sensor head?
Acoustic sensor heads use mechanical sound waves to measure belt vibration. Optical sensor heads use light. Each option has its own advantages, but which is best for you?

Nice examples here from HARD-LINE of the different kinds of drive-by-wire technology, including for heavy machinery. It won’t be long until tomorrow’s by-wire systems are fully automated.
But, if these systems use mechanical belts, it’s vital to have the correct tension in the belt itself.

Proud to be part of the assembly process for these eight new temperature controlled Gray & Adams semi-trailers!
Each is equipped with the new belt-powered Thermo King Advancer 400 refrigeration system, and the belts were measured with Clavis’ FourierBMS, with a custom sensor head and bespoke bracket to suit the unit.
The result? A reduced carbon footprint and reduced noise. Great job Thermo King! 👍 🌍
